It is used as an acidity regulator in the food industry. The tartaric acid is deposited in the vats and barrels in the form of tartar.

Description Properties

Tartaric acid occurs in several isomeric forms, e.g. L(+) tartaric acid. It is widely used in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. This acid is present in the form of a salt, e.g. potassium sodium tartrate. It is commonly found in fruits, especially in grapes.
