Lactic acid (Lactic Acid food additive E270) 80% is used in the food industry as a factor regulating the pH level. It is an ingredient that occurs naturally in fruits, vegetables and products of the fermentation process. In the chemical industry, it is used as a component of mild cleaning agents (cleaning liquids, toilet gels). It is also used in papermaking to produce biodegradable packaging. It is widely used as an active substance in biocidal and disinfecting products. A common use of lactic acid is also cosmetics, where it is used as an exfoliating ingredient and regulating the level of skin hydration. Its antibacterial and anti-aging properties are also used in cosmetics. Lactic acid is used as a chemical reagent. Also known is the versatile use of lactic acid in agriculture as an additive to fodder and the production of silage for cattle.
