Potassium hydroxide granules of pharmaceutical quality (Ph.) - it is a very soluble hydroxide with the chemical formula KOH. Potassium base in solid form is used in industry, chemical analytics, pharmaceutical for the preparation of aqueous solutions (e.g. 50%). Potassium hydroxide solutions are also used to adjust the pH. Pharmaceutical potassium hydroxide is used in the technology of producing gels and eye drops with a higher viscosity.
Other uses:
- Production of medical devices (removal of skin lesions caused by "mollus contagiosum"
- The aqueous KOH solution absorbs carbon dioxide from the air
- Diagnosing fungal infections
- Food industry (pH regulator)
- In household chemistry, production of cleaning agents and deblocking liquids
- Production of soft soaps, e.g. "Sapo kalinus"
- Production of "Soap alcohol" (used in pharmacy recipes)
- An ingredient of depilatory and hair modeling preparations
- A component of means for removing cuticles around the nails
